INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING AND TAGGING YOUR ITEMS
PREPARING YOUR ITEMS FOR SALE
We really appreciate our consignors and want you to have a positive experience consigning at our sale and hope you consign with us again and again. Below you will find some general guidelines for preparing your items for sale. It may seem like a lot of work but it will pay off for you if you take the time to make your items look their best. Our shoppers are very savvy and they are looking for those items that have obviously been well cared for and prepared well for sale.

NEW THIS YEAR: WE ARE LIMITING THE NUMBER OF TOTAL ITEMS EACH CONSIGNOR CAN BRING
In order to provide the best shopping experience for our customers we are limiting the number of total items to 225. This includes clothing, toys, games, books and baby items. Sale Manager will alert you when you have reached that number. We encourage consignors to combine or group like items (multiple shirts w/pants, full outfits instead of individual items) which sell better. Please pick the best of your best. We believe that the inventory will be easier for shoppers to choose items and the quality of items will be top notch!

ALL ITEMS MUST MEET CURRENT SAFETY STANDARDS AND NOT BE SUBJECT TO RECALL. IF WE ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT AN ITEM IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. You can find information about recalled products on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website at www.cpsc.gov.
  • Please wash all clothing items and iron if necessary
  • Button all buttons, zip zippers and snap all snaps.
  • All toys must be clean and in working order
  • If it requires batteries make sure they work
  • Clean all play equipment thoroughly
  • All infant items must be clean and odor free
  • Be sure your items have no holes, tears, or stains
  • Shoes must be clean and free of gum
  • Attach all instructions or manual with a ziptie if possible
  • Pay special attention when cleaning high chairs and strollers. All food must be removed

All items must be clean, free of stains, in good condition, and in working order. Do not spend your valuable time tagging and pricing items believed not suitable for resale. If you wouldn’t buy it, someone else wouldn’t either.
MOPS reserves the right to remove those items from the floor which do not meet these criteria.

NEW THIS YEAR: WE ARE LIMITING THE NUMBER OF TOTAL ITEMS EACH CONSIGNOR CAN BRING.
In order to provide the best shopping experience for our customers we are limiting the number of total items to 225. This includes clothing, toys, games, books and baby items.

Consignors are required to print their tags on white cardstock.
We are phasing out the colored cardstock requirement. Consignors with colored cardstock left over from previous sales are welcome to use it.

All items to be consigned must be securely and properly tagged and on a plastic hanger before being displayed. The hanger should be facing to the left, like a question mark.

The only exception to this rule is for onesies and socks. These items should be grouped together in at least groups of three in a ziplock bag. If you can obtain pants hangers please use those. If you do not have pants hangers please pin the following items to the hanger:

  • All Pants
  • All Skirts
  • All Shorts
  • All Bathing Suits (Spring Sale only) ON SEAM ONLY
  • All Dresses or Shirts with spaghetti type straps and tank tops. Pin the straps together at back of item
  • All Maternity Dresses and Pants so they don’t drag on the floor and get stepped on. Pin the legs of pants at the top back of the hanger

NO WIRE HANGERS ALLOWED.

Please be as descriptive as possible when tagging your items. It makes it easier for the shopper to see all pertinent information on the tag and more likely that your item will sell. Please include specific size (small, medium, large is too vague), a brief description of item and price. An example would be, “Old Navy pink floral sundress, never worn 2T”. In the event that a tag gets separated from an item it makes it much easier for us to put them back together.

TAGGING CLOTHING

  • Tags are to be secured to garment with zipties (cable wires). They are nylon strips with “teeth” on one side. They work very well to secure the tag and our shoppers and workers won’t get pricked!
  • Zipties can be purchased at the electronics department of your local hardware or home improvement store as well as Wal-Mart
  • If a ziptie cannot be attached then a medium sized safety pin can be used.
  • Loop a ziptie through the clothing’s tag, belt loop, buttonhole or shelve.
  • For multiple piece clothing items, secure pieces together with a safety pin if possible. List all pieces on tag.
  • Pin all accessories to garment List all pieces on tag.
  • Listing all pieces on the tag will make it easier for us to put items and tag back together should they become separated.
  • Straight pins are no longer acceptable

BOOKS/GAMES/PUZZLES

  • Attach your tag to the inside cover of the book with masking or painter’s tape (no packing tape, it rips the books!). Please apply the tape to the top and bottom of tag (not the sides).
  • If selling a group of books please group by reading level and put them in a ziplock bag. Either attach tag with a ziptie to bag or tape it to the inside of the bag with packing tape so that the tag can be easily read. Please include the title of each book on the tag.
  • WE no longer allow the use of post-it notes to tag books.
  • All puzzles and games must contain all pieces. Tape box closed. Attach tag with packing tape or put in ziplock bag.

TOYS
All TOYS MUST BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED AND IN WORKING ORDER

  • Toys with multiple pieces are to be in a ziplock bag with the tag taped to the inside of the bag with packing tape. Please apply the tape to the top and bottom of tag (not the sides).
  • When possible secure the tag with a ziptie.
  • If a toy requires batteries it should have working batteries in it.
  • When appropriate attach tag with ziptie.

VIDEO TAPES AND DVDs
MUST BE IN ORIGINAL CASE OR CLEARLY LABELED.

  • Attach tag to video with packing tape. Please apply the tape to the top and bottom of tag (not the sides).
  • If selling a group of videos together put them in a ziplock bag and either attach the tag to the bag with a ziptie or tape to inside of bag so that the tag can be easily read.

INFANT ITEMS

  • Group like items by age and type and place in a ziplock bag with tag taped inside bag with packing tape. Please apply the tape to the top and bottom of tag (not the sides).
  • If item has a cord please fold or wind up the cord and secure tag to cord with ziptie.
  • Please place all infant blankets, sheets and towels in a ziplock bag and attach tag to bag or inside bag
  • Comforter sets, crib sets: If possible put all items in a clear plastic bag and tape the tag inside the bag with packing tape or punch a hole in the bag and thread ziptie through hole and tag
  • Socks, onesies and other small items: Please sell these in groups of three or more. Pricing one pair of socks and one little onesie will be time consuming and may not pay off

PRICING
Items are to be priced in 50 cent increments. If an item is less than 50 cents, please group it together with like items.
When pricing your items consider the age and condition of your article. 40% – 60% of the original price paid for your item is a good range to use when setting your sale price. Sell it like you would buy it!
