FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to work at the sale? No, you do not have to work at the sale. The benefit of consigning at our sale is that you drop of your items on Thursday evening or Friday morning, pick-up any unsold items by 3:30pm on Saturday and we will mail you a check for 60% of your sales within 15 days. If you choose to volunteer for 3 hours, you will receive 70% of your sales. It pays to volunteer!

How can I shop BEFORE the public? Every consignor is given the opportunity to shop before the public by attending the Pre Sale on Friday evening. If you want to be absolutely one of the first to shop the sale, then you need to volunteer and sign up as a sale worker. You do not need to be a consignor to come to the Pre Sale- simply sign up for a work shift and come have fun working with us.

Is there a limit on items? Yes, this year we are starting the practice of limiting items to best serve our customers. In past sales we have had an over abundance of clothing making it hard to shop. It will also help to increase the quality by having our consignors pick only their best items to sell. We are setting the limit at 225 items. This includes shoes, toys, books and all large items (i.e. strollers, exersaucers, etc)

How do I price items? As a general rule you will want to price items at about 1/4 to 1/3 of their original retail price. (unless you really want it gone, sell it at $1.00) If your item is a name-brand or boutique-brand such as Gap, Gymboree, The Children's Place or other higher end, you can price closer to 1/3 original retail. Clothing from Target or Wal-Mart should be priced on the lower end. For example, if a GAP t-shirt can be purchased on sale for 11.99, you can reasonably price it around $4.00 for good condition, $5.00 for excellent condition, more if the tags are still on. The one exception to the 1/4-1/3 rule will be indoor/outdoor toys like kitchens and playhouses (Little Tykes type items). These types of toys are in higher demand and you can expect to get as much as 1/3-1/2 of original retail price, especially if they have only been used indoors and are in great condition.

Will you take all my items? Please don't be offended if we ask you to take back some of your items. It is often easy to miss a spot or a tear when you are getting your items ready at home. We will Red Tag those items. Red Tag items are those that are deemed out of season, out of date, dirty, stained or damaged and we will tag them with a red tag stating why it was pulled from the racks. We want to be known for having the best quality merchandise. Many of our consignors are also our biggest shoppers and we want you to have confidence that you are buying the best at the MOPS Consignment Sale.

Are clothes limited to season? Yes, the Spring/Summer Sale is for Spring/Summer clothes.. No winter jackets, snow apparel, corduroys, heavy sweaters and sweats, Christmas items, Halloween costumes, etc. We understand that Spring is a time for layers but please use your best judgment on fleeces and long pants and shirts. If volume becomes an issue long pants, shirts, fleeces, etc will be taken off the floor.

The Fall/Winter sale is for Fall/Winter clothes... No shorts, tank tops, bathing suits or spring jackets, dresses, etc will be accepted. MOPS reserves the right to pull and red tag items that are out of season. Red Tagged items will be returned to your bin. We do this in order to provide the best selection to our buyers. We thank you in advance for not including these items!

Can you donate unsold items? Yes! This sale we are donating to Open Door Ministries in Royersford. They assist families (especially children) in our local area. You can easily mark your items as donate on the tag.

Can I pick up items that don’t sell? Yes, at the designated time. See the front page mopssale.com for pick up times.

Do I have to tag my items? Yes! We have a new online system that makes the process so easy! Click on Tagging Info Tab for a complete description of how to tag.

Do clothes have to be on hangers? Yes, all clothing must be on hangers. We no longer provide hangers. Hangers will only be available at the end of each sale during pick-up. You can take as many as you'll need for the next sale when you come to pick up your unsold items. However, if you need to buy them the dollar stores sells them inexpensively. We also suggest that you group outfits and similar items together as customers are more likely to buy when they think they are getting a deal.

How do I get paid? You will receive your check within 15 business days in the mail.
